Hey folks.. Thanks to Tjowster, charsiewpao and I have been able to go for a phototrip last weekend, to tryout the photo capabilities of the Olympus E500, sold to us at a really affordable price. =D Now, for a disclaimer, my chaplaincy team has always been an awesome place to work in, and much of its culture and values I have carried with me into my new job. SO it wasn't that my previous workplace sucked or anything like that. =) Of course, last weekend was not just to do techy stuff, it was to spend quality time together, to find a story, and to see if there be interesting stuff that catches our attention. I'm thankful for that breather to be able to just take my mind away from everyday concerns. =) Here are just some highlights, to let you guys take a peek into our weekend.
The Gyoza in Gyoza no Ohsho, really delectable! It's soft yet crispy and best eaten fresh. =) This shop is pretty inconspicuous and easily overlooked but not to be missed. Thanks Charsiewpao for the recommendation!
Accidental heart shape formed from mixing of two sauces! So sweet hor.~~ Hee.
Charsiewpao's order, Chashu Ramen. Generous serving, soup is rich in flavor and the noodles are authentic in its elasticity. =)
My own order, Tonkatsu Don. It's actually breaded pork cutlet in Worchester sauce. The texture of the pork is really quite legendary wor.. The breaded batter falls off the firm but juicy meat when you bite into it. The only thing is, the Worchester sauce could have been lesser. Haha.
The owner of the small shop, who humbly allowed us to take his picture. It's quite an experience to have the owner/chef prepare food in front of you.
Gyoza no Ohsho is at Cuppage Plaza #01-10.
After that delectable meal we made our way down to Dempsey Hill for the FleaTitan, a first in Singapore, where they combined indoor, stall, and car boot sales all at one place. Quite a few interesting sights we caught, but both of us couldn't find what we were looking for, which were a jockey cap and a wallet. =)
We soon had to escape from the heat at Jones the Grocer, a place that does not have service charge or GST. Hee. Quite a great place to chill out at, we recommend it for people who want to feel like an ang moh. =)
And so, here's my weekend of great conversation, wonderful sights and sounds, and most of all, rest for a tough week ahead.
Yep, this is my new workplace. =) The scary thing about the internet is that you never who will suddenly have access to my blog and chance upon it. If it happens to compromise my professionalism I'll be damned. So, as long as those who know I've changed jobs know where I am, that's good enough. =)
But yeah, it's a really nice place and the people there are very fun-loving and accepting of one another. Trust me, the workload is enough to kill just any one individual in there, so it's not because we're all slacking or have nothing to do. But maybe it's cos we realize that there's really a lot that needs to be done and so cooperation is our strength. =) 团结是力量! Wee~
Yeah so that's my desk right there, it's really quite spacious, so much so that my picture can only capture that much. =) But well you can see that I'm really quite well taken care of. It's a widescreen monitor there, with a HP desktop that whizzes really quickly cos it's like brand new, and I was allowed to install photoshop in there so that I can take on media projects too. Wee~ And yes our office space really looks like home. =) I decided to stock up on my own stationery shelf, and brought in some stuff to brighten up the place. I've got a house plant there, her name's Zany Vainy, and I talk to it, something that makes my colleagues look at me incredulously but they've come to know it's just me. I also have a hand puppet Chip and Dale's Chip there, so when some of my colleague's children come in I can entertain them. Hee. Also, I have three rubber balls that I use to juggle around the office to relieve stress. Yes, I goof around a lot in the office. But I'm only taking after the rest of them who came before me! There's periodically laughter and guffaws in the office to make the hours seems shorter and work lighter. That's office culture I can identify with.
I can't believe they have Johnny Mathis on Youtube! =) This, my friends, is something that I think will raise eyebrows if people knew about it. Just how old is this guy man? How did I even find myself being influenced - no, enchanted - by this man? =)
The story goes that I was in Ngee Ann Poly Library just browsing through their media section with my poly buddy Royston and I chanced upon this CD. For some strange reason I found myself enthralled by his music. And my singing has since been influenced by him. Wee~
He's got really romantic melodies.. Which are unfound today, simply cos no one bothers to sing like he does. =) Crisp, clear, lilting at the right moments. He's probably the choir master's pet. =)
Ladies and gentlemen, my closet admired icon, Johnny Mathis.
